Yosemite National Park

I am now living full time in my van with my dog, Max.  I don't like good bye's and it was especially difficult this time around since I really don't know when I will return.  Even at this point, I don't know exactly what I will do, where I will go, or when I will get there.  I like it that way.

A few days ago, I left my home and decided to try to beat the heat and get up in the mountains so the first destination was Yosemite National Park.  Most people told me how crazy busy it would be and I was pleasantly surprised when there were several campsites to choose from.  Max and I chose a site and took it easy the first day.

It was so beautiful waking up in the forest however, "campy" will take some getting used to where sleep is concerned.  Max growled at every sound and he wasn't too happy when deer would pass through our campsite.  I agree that it was a bit rude of them to walk right through, but since they most likely were there first, I let it slide.  As I sipped my coffee in the morning inside of the van, I watched my neighbors fold up their tent and then it hit me... I have become one of "those" people.  For years, I camped in a tent and it was a bit annoying when people in RV's would sit in comfort and watch me and now, there I was watching the tenters.  Let me tell you... it was NICE!

We explored the park for the day and didn't stay too long.  I love all of our National Parks and I look forward to visiting them throughout my journey.

I am glad to be on the road and I look forward to what adventures await Max and I.

I'm so inspired by your travels. I found your blog and spent two days reading (and lusting) over your freedom and adventures. I have a 2 yr plan, in 2 yrs to be out there on the road. I have my travel buddy, Mr. Zip (chin/pin mix), good car, just looking for a teardrop to complete the dream.
Thanks for your inspiration and safe travels.

I feel especially fortunate to be one of "those people" on cold and wet days when I gaze out at the poor tenters from my cozy warm & dry Winnie.

Hi Alison - just found you through the Airstream Pinterest. After being an Airstream Wannabe for many years I finally took the leap and have my own adorable silver toy. Enjoyed your beautiful pics from Alumapalooza & wondered if you'll be at Alumafandango in Denver next month. Though I'm not an active blogger anymore , you might enjoy some old posts & pics from my Airstream travels: http://studiojudith.blogspot.com/2009/01/airstream-oasis.html

First of all thanks for reminding me what a phone booth looks like!
With all the radiation hitting the west coast now might be a perfect time for a " long road trip" that goes for sushi as well.... Radiation showing up in the Tuna. :(
Not to get off track ... Do have fun out there and where ever the road takes you congratulations to being open to the journey and sharing it here .
Safe travels

Wow, thanks for sharing...love your creativity. I am oh so jealous. My son and daughter-in-law just spent last weekend at Yosemite in a tent in fact. Pictures he took on his iPhone were great. I gotta get there some day!

I'm glad to hear you and Max are doing well on the road. I've tried to fall in love with Yosemite, but it just hasn't been my kind of place, though I love to camp and be outdoors. Safe travels, wherever you end up next!
